An introduction to the Urban Mobility Partnership

Who are the Urban Mobility Partnership (UMP)?

The Urban Mobility Partnership (UMP) is a coalition committed to providing long-term leadership and near-term solutions to improve future urban mobility. Our innovative partnership represents the breadth of the urban mobility landscape. We were founded to ensure that effective policy at a national, regional and local level, combined with new technology, supports better mobility and helps tackle the major challenges of congestion, air quality and climate change. We provide a forum for the discussion and promotion of new policy ideas around urban mobility, including embracing the role of smart technology in the provision of mobility services that will improve air quality and consumer’s lives. Our vision is for a UK with an integrated, multi-modal national transport policy that places the needs of the consumer at its heart by reducing congestion and improving air quality. Our members include Enterprise, Stagecoach, Conduent Transportation, Trainline, Foot Anstey, Brompton Bike Hire and Dott.

As a part of our work, we have developed practical policy solutions for national Government and responded to key national and local policy consultations which has included:

• Developing the ‘Mobility Credits’ concept and securing funding through engagement with No10 and DfT for a pilot in Coventry
• Working with No10 and DfT to secure funding for the creation of ‘Future Transport Zones’
• Engaging successfully to shape the UK MaaS framework
• Producing a Local Authority MaaS toolkit
• Securing integrated transport funding as part of high street recovery through influencing the Grimsey Review

Furthermore, we also provide a forum for engagement for UMP members with politicians, officials and the media, and a local, regional and national level, including:

• Holding Metro Mayor Hustings and Q+As to discuss urban mobility and transport policy
• Securing meetings with Councillors and Local Authority officials
• Hosting policy roundtables with Local and Combined Authorities
• Engaging with key civil servants at DfT, HM Treasury, LUHC and BEIS
• MP and Peer Engagement programme
